FishDawgs Inc. chooses Gause Built Custom 26' Fishing Boat

Over the last several years we have fished hard along the West coast of Florida and spoken with guides, captains, and anglers about the choices available for a boat that suited our specific needs. We wanted a boat safe and comfortable for anglers of many skill levels. We found that many potential anglers, relatively new to fishing salt water, rarely found a bay or flats boat for charter that could accommodate a family of four to six and have the comfort and fishing space available for them to enjoy their day. Of course we also wanted a boat that would compete with the best bay and flats boats for tournaments,Red Fish to Tarpon, and for the experienced angler ready to hunt fish. We wanted a boat that would get us and our anglers to our destination quicklyMarch 19, 2009ted a boat that would fish the near shore, bays, and "skinny through" a foot or less of water to get to those mangrove, back country, areas and holes that hold so many of the fish we hunt.

We tried many boats from technical poling skiffs, super fast flats boats, and several bay combinations. Although each boat has its strong suit, and some had multiple factors in its favor we didn't find a boat that satisfied our parameters for varied sea conditions and anglers. We were discussing our progress in finding the our next boat with Rob Wells at the Dollar Bar on Cabbage Key, who was a great help in setting us up with many manufacturers and getting us rides on many of the competing boats of interest, when a guest at the bar, Glen Green, asked if we'd looked at the Gause 26. He owned one and encouraged us to contact David Gause because he felt the boat would meet or exceed our parameters. To make a long story short our final choice was the Gause Built Custom 26' boat. It's ability to float in a foot of water, handle chop at speed, large open casting platform, gunnel design for safety (especially children and novices), and overall professional custom features such as underwater lighting system, dual trim and troll, power pole, oblong bait well horizontally mounted on the transom, built in tackle locker and 50 gallon cooler, Garmin electronics, integrated tower, and many other features sold us on this boat. Not to mention the attention to detail throughout the boat that allow easy maintenance, storage, and access to components.

We invite you to join FishDawgs and hunt some fish aboard our new boat. Or if you're looking for your next fishing boat and you've never been aboard the Gause give us a call and we see about making arrangements for you to see the boat. If you bring a suitable refreshment we may be inclined to give you a ride!

Gause Built Custom Boats builds custom fishing boats for discriminating anglers. This family business developed as a result of generations of the Gause family sport fishing, guide fishing and commercial fishing and the continuing search by the members of that family for the "perfect" boat. Years of modifying, improving and rebuilding a variety of fishing boats finally led to a decision to design and build a custom fishing boat for themselves which would satisfy all their requirements and be lacking in no essential detail.

Custom Built Fishing Boats, by definition, are built to a particular specification, and initially that specification was created by Robbie, David and Gunner Gause, as the boat was being built for their own use. Soon after they had completed that first boat they discovered that there were other anglers interested in owning a boat like this, and a decision was made to meet that demand. An integral part of that decision was to continue to strive for the “perfect” boat. Of course, what’s perfect for one client may not be perfect for the next. This meant that each boat would need to be built to satisfy the requirements of the individual client, rigged and outfitted so that, for that client, it was lacking in no essential detail.

Gause Built Custom Boats was established and production of a 26 foot custom fishing boat designed to float and run in less than a foot of water was begun. The boat was built with a tower, for better fishing visibility, a hull shape designed to promote a smooth, dry ride, a bait well integrated into the transom of the boat and many more features which the Gause Family had come to expect after many generations of fishing and using boats. Each and every boat was built for a particular client and the details of each build were decided with the client in order to create the “perfect” custom fishing boat for that particular client.
